Hello everyone,

Is there a specific trail in Hydrocut where the giant hogweed is more common? I realize the hogweed is sprayed with orange paint, but was just curious if someone could tell us which trails had the most? Is there any that are close to the path or is it deeper into the trees?

Just curious,
Dan

They are in the open area on the first trail after you leave the Glasgow parking lot (Kaitlyn's Switchbacks). Can't miss them, they are spray painted orange. Mostly down the hill closer to Rock'n Ronnie, although there is a little one just off the trail on the left. There is also one near the actual switchbacks.

Does anyone know if there is a campaign to eradicate this plant in the region? Given the number of seeds it can produce and lifespan of seeds, it must be tough. I am curious though as I saw many giant hogweed plants on the shores of the grand river when canoeing with the family this weekend. Maybe a number to report sightings?

Hey everyone!

I am working for the Region of Waterloo to eradicate the Giant Hogweed. We have found several plants on the Hydrocut and have destroyed as many as we know about. If you find more GHW on other parts of the trail that have not been sprayed please let me know and I will be out as soon as possible to locate the plants.

Also, if you find any other GHW in the region please send me a message or call my work number at: 519-575-4016

Thanks a lot!
